Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

As you know, i was out of Singapore most of the time in May. Was on hiatus on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. I went to Hongkong first then to Taiwan. My trip to Hongkong was mentioned in the previous post. And i mentioned to create another blog post on my trip to Taiwan, so here it is!

So i spent 5 days in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Reached Taoyuan Intl Airport on the 18th May, 5 plus 6am. Ohh, and i saw a pretty sight on the plane. I have no idea of they're the rays of sun or it's a rainbow. Photos are not good enough to show how pretty it is. I am so glad that the turbulence woke me up. Waking up to such a sight was really such a blessing. Took the skytrain to Terminal 2 of Taoyuan Intl Airport. That's where most major airlines are... It's the terminal where you often see it in those Taiwan drama, whenever an artiste arrives in Taiwan, all the fans will be there waiting... It's that terminal. Idk how to put them in words. Hahahah. I had to purchase a Taiwan sim card in order to keep in contact with my family, and the telcom shops only starts operating at 8am, so i had my breakfast in the airport while waiting. Did some of the researching while eating and waiting. And then i bought my Taiwan sim card...
Took a KuoKuang Bus to Taipei Main Station. The journey was less than an hour, and it cost me NTD 125 for the journey. The bus driver will paste a luggage checklist on your luggage for "security" purposes. Ohh, and the bus driver looks like the 黃金貴 from 愛我請留言!!! Hahahha. And it totally reminded me of his favourite sentence in that drama, "golden water give you power!" Hahhahah!!! Okay, that aside! The bus passes by a few stops, i dont remember what are the stops though. I only know that i have to alight at Taipei Main Station, that's it. Because my first stop was Kaohsiung, so i have to either take a HSR or the normal TRA from Taipei to Kaohsiung. I took the normal TRA though, although the duration will be longer but i dont wanna spend so much on transport. There are a few train types that goes to the same place. Some will take a longer time/route. So just choose according to your preferences when you purchase your tickets. I took the Tze-Chiang 121 and it cost me NTD 843, and it took me 5 hours to reach Kaohsiung... Because i needed to pee so badly, so i took a taxi from the Kaohsiung Main Station to the hotel. Was telling the uncle that i am going to some 酒店, and he corrected me that in Taiwan, most hotels are called 飯店 or 旅館... Totally forgotten abt it. Heh. So yes, i checked in and finally peed. Lol.
And then i started exploring 六合夜市. Nth much though. I didnt know what to eat there, because they sell mainly seafood, and im not really a seafood lover, so my dinner was only a Turkish ice cream and a packet of guava. Hah, the Turkish ice cream incident was damn hilarious. And so i ended my supposedly Day 1.

The conversation betwn me and the Turkish guy.

Me: Can i get a Turkish Ice Cream from you but not get cheated?!
Turkish: Cheated? Hahaha.
Me: Yes. I want the chocolate flavour. But can i really not get cheated?!
Turkish: I dont understand. (Idk if he really dont understand or he's just joking)
*Passes me the ice cream and started playing some tricks.*
Me: :( This is what i meant by not get cheated. Hahah
*With ice cream finally on my hand*
Turkish: Where are you from?
Me: Singapore.
*hands him the money and walked away*
Okay, this is damn bullshit. Hahahah!

And so, officially started exploring Kaohsiung on Monday. I headed over to Cijin on the first day. Shall let the photos do the saying from now on.
The windmill park in Cijin.
I walked all the way from the ferry point to the "You are here" location.
Pretty scenery!!!
One of the OOTD when i was in Kaohsiung.
Sending postcards home and to Wuiming.
They actually have an office like that for residents to talk to their councillor.
Cool~
And watching "long lost" cartoons in Taiwan.
How can you not get Gongcha when you're in the country where it first originated?!
Pretty, pretty!
I have breakfast vouchers for all days of stay.
But i only went for breakfast on my last day of stay in Kaohsiung.
I met this friendly taxi driver on one of the days though. He told me about attractions in Kaohsiung and suggested some places that i should go. He said that people from Singapore should actually go and explore those farming plantations or fruits plantations. Because we really dont get to experience all these in Singapore. Which was quite true. He said a lot of other stuff also, but im just so lazy to type them out. Meh.

And i experienced an earthquake when i was in Kaohsiung. The earthquake happened on 21st May in Hualien, with a 5.9 magnitude. But of course, the whole of Taiwan was affected. Kaohsiung had it at 2 magnitude, according to the news. The earthquake happened at 821am, but i was asleep at that time, until i woke up and received DY's whatsapp. Had my eyes stuck on the news when i woke up to get first hand news of the incident. But there's nth i can do though. And i thought the rain in Hongkong was bad enough, but the rain in Taiwan was just as bad, okay maybe worst than the one in Hongkong. Sigh. I thought i could enjoy my stay in Taiwan, but meh, the rain just ruined it. May 21st was no good for Taiwan though, the Earthquake, the heavy rain, floodings everywhere (according to the news) and a slashing incident in Taipei which killed 4 with 25 injured... The culprit was just a 21yo Uni student. He hated his life so bad that he did such things to get a death penalty, because he didnt dare to commit suicide. Sigh! What's happening to human beings, seriously?!!!

Conclusion: 5 days in Kaohsiung is really too long!!! I think a 4D3N would be good enough.
Recommendation: 旗津,瑞豐夜市,駁二藝術區,後驛商圈,哈瑪星文化公車.
Recommendation from Taiwanese: Go to 愛河之心,果園/菜園/農場,佛光山(?).

Of course, i took more photos for this trip, just click here for more photos!
